A file-based UI application for encoding Dolby Audio™ content.

The Dolby Media Encoder is a stand-alone, file-based software application that supports the encoding of Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos® content, Dolby AC-4 immersive stereo, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos content.

Dolby Media Encoder offers a feature-rich UI which makes it easy for a user to configure and encode an audio source file for final delivery to a consumer device.

Apple computers:
  • CPU: Intel 64-bit processor with eight cores (minimum)
    The Dolby Media Encoder supports Apple computers with M1 chips via Rosetta emulation.
  • RAM: 8 GB (minimum)
  • Operating system: macOS Catalina up to macOS Ventura
Windows computers:
  • CPU: Intel 64-bit processor with eight cores (minimum)
  • RAM: 8 GB (minimum)
  • Operating system: Windows 10, Windows 11
Supported display resolutions:
  • 1920×1200 and higher
  • 1680×1050 (default)
  • 1440×900
  • 1280×800
  • 1152×720 (minimum)

Additional software requirements

Windows computers require:

  • Visual Studio 2010 or Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2010 (website)
  • Visual Studio 2013 or Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 (website)
  • Visual Studio 2015 or Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2015 (website)

License key

  1. Copy and paste the license string to notepad or any text editor.
  2. Save file as license.lic (make sure encoding is set to ANSI)
    --Mac users using TextEdit: Go to preferences and in both the New Document and Open & Save tabs, change the format of Saving file format for Plain Text File Encoding to: Western (Windows Latin 1). Uncheck “add “.txt” extension to plain text files. File/New, Cut and paste the string and save as license.lic.
